With it's intuitive easy-to-use interface you can start cataloging your records immediately. CATraxx allows you to keep track of just about every aspect of your collection. Using CATraxx you can quickly catalog CDs by download disc data from the Internet CDDB database. CATraxx is the choice of professional DJs, radio stations and individuals world-wide who want to keep track of their record collection. Now you can have a perfectly organized collection. CATraxx has a very comprehensive set of fields, including 20 user-defined fields, for both albums and tracks, enabling you to catalog all the information you want. You can store an image of the album cover and add your own personal comments for both albums and tracks. You register most information, like artist, format, label and group lineup, only once. This saves disk space and makes it easier to search for exactly the information you want. The loan module lets you keep track of albums on loan. Check the program periodically to see what is still out on loan. You will always know who has what and since when. CATraxx also lets you track both initial investment and the value of your collection. You can effectively search the database for information that you require. Search in all fields with any combination of fields and operators. In addition, CATraxx lets you cross reference up to five fields. This is an extremely flexible way to search and query data. The report module lets you create almost any type of report. Use one of the pre-defined reports, or create your own from scratch. You have full control over columns, fonts and margins. CATraxx lets you preview reports on screen before printing. CATraxx uses popup menus for quick feature access and navigation. CATraxx comes with a sample database to get you started and a comprehensive context-sensitive on-line help system. CATraxx runs on both Windows 3.1 and Window 95. ============================================================= Distribution CATraxx is distributed as shareware. This means you are welcome to give copies of CATraxx to your friends and colleagues. For a list of files that need to be distributed, please see VENDINFO.DIZ. Do not, under any circumstances, distribute CATRAXX.MEM. This file contains the serial number, and with this information we can trace the copy back to you. When CATRAXX.MEM is not present, CATraxx runs as an unregistered shareware version. ============================================================= Installation NOTE! If you downloaded this package from the Internet, please read this paragraph very carefully: A file called VBRUN300.DLL needs to be installed on your computer before SETUP is run. To save space, this file was not included in this package. Please check your SYSTEM directory (usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM) to see if you already have this file (this is very likely). If not then download, unzip and copy the file to the SYSTEM directory. It is very important that you do this before SETUP is run! VBRUN300.DLL is available from most file servers, including: ftp.cdrom.com/.1/simtelnet/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.ftp.hkstar.com/.2/simtelnet/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.demon.co.uk/.d5/simtelnet/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.uni-paderborn.de/ftp/disk1/SimTel/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.bitcon.no/pub/simtelnet/win3/dll/vbrun300.zip ftp.chem.eng.usyd.edu.au/dropbox/pgrad/utils/win31/vbrun300.zip ftp.edu.tw/Chinese/ifcss/software/ms-win/misc/vbrun300.zip To install CATraxx, follow these steps: From Diskette 1. Insert diskette number 1 into your diskette drive. 2. If you are running Microsoft Windows 3.1, from the Program Manager File menu choose Run. If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, from the Start menu choose Run. 3. In the text box, type the path to the installation program, for example A:\SETUP, and choose OK. 4. When requested, specify the directory where you want to install CATraxx. Unless you specify a different directory the application will be installed in C:\CATRAXX. 5. Choose OK to start the installation process. From Hard Disk 1. Ensure that all CATraxx installation files are in the same directory, for example C:\CATTEMP. 2. If you are running Microsoft Windows 3.1, from the Program Manager File menu choose Run. If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, from the Start menu choose Run. 3. In the text box, type the name of the drive and directory where the installation files are located, then type \SETUP (for example C:\CATTEMP\SETUP) and choose OK. 4. When requested, specify the directory where you want to install CATraxx. Unless you specify a different directory the application will be installed in C:\CATRAXX. 5. Choose OK to start the installation process. If you have any problems with the installation, you may install files manually by following this procedure: 1. Start a "DOS-window" (In Program Manager double-click on the MS-DOS icon). 2. What you type at the DOS prompt depends on the file you want to install. For example, if you want to install THREED.VBX, follow these steps: - Insert the correct diskette (in this case diskette no. 1) into you diskette drive. - Type this command (you may need to substitute A for the letter of your diskette drive, for example B) EXPAND A:\THREED.VB_ C:\CATRAXX\THREED.VBX THREED.VBX is unpacked and copied to the program directory. Normally, files with the extension VBX or DLL should be installed in the SYSTEM directory (usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM). Do not copy files to this directory yourself. If, however, you do, please make a copy of the original file first. You might overwrite a newer version, and as a result some other application might not work. ============================================================= Changes 2.70.01 - Sep 14, 1997 - Added support for proxy servers. 2.70.00 - Sep 11, 1997 - CATraxx now supports the Internet CDDB database!
